Mowgli sketches-compare5
Start: Saturday, June 13, 2009, 12:24:25am
Done: Saturday, June 13, 2009, 12:42:13am
Panel 1- Mowgli crouching down to growl & snarl with the wolves. My Favorite panel in the set, as Mowgli is squatting and ready to Attack in a very Ferocious & Feral manner. I slightly redid the teeth in order to further capture the sense of Savagery in the image.
Panel 2- Mowgli apparently practicing with his boomerang which he mysteriously managed to master the throwing technique in just one throw. ;p I like the overall Action type pose in this as well as the flow of the hair and the arms.
Panel 3- A shot of Mowgli standing up against a wall to overlook his next move in a Mystery Movie style manner. As before, I like the shot of posture in here, as well as the sense of Noir you get in this.
Panel 4- Mowgli kneeling down in a nice poseable manner. Trying to remove the boomerang to make way for the elbow & back was a bit tricky, but not too difficult.
Panel 5- Mowgli sitting up and looking at someone behind him. I think I goofed up on the eyes by making them look down rather than to his left. Ah well.
Panel 6- Mowgli landing on the ground in an Action type thud. I like the Force of Impact on this panel & the way his body looks contorts to that Action style pose.
Panel 7- A shot of Mowgli running but with his back facing toward the animated camera. The right foot, where the sole shows, was a little too big, so I reshaped it to make more symmetrical as well as the left ankle as to make it less thinner than it already was.
Panel 8- Mowgli on the ground with an apparently hurt ankle. ouch. If I’m not mistaken, I think the pinky toe on his hurt foot was a little too big, so I made it smaller to accommodate the physical correctness of the feet. I also made his face a bit more exaggerated to make it look like he’s really hurt.
Panel 9- Mowgli hanging/climbing onto a rocky mountain edge. I like the perspective of this & the angle that goes along with it. Also touched up the feet and added the lines & curves to them too.
Panel 10- Mowgli hanging by a stick lodged to his (invisible) loincloth.
I had to redo the foot & the buttocks because the station ID was in the bloody way, which was a real pain to accomplish. grrr…:X
I also added the teeth to his mouth to make a bit more realistic & not too much of the Anime type.
Panel 11- Mowgli sitting quietly on a tree branch. I admire the sense of emotion & loneliness that he feels. It’s one of the main things that defines the character as Human.
Panel 12- Another shot of Mowgli sitting on the ground, probably not by himself. I like the pose and the way his body moves in this scene. I made his face more visible & touched up the hands and feet.
Panel 13- Mowgli kneeling on the grass staring into his reflection in the lake. Like I said in an earlier panel, I like the sense of emotion that the character is exhibiting through his posture.
I think I made his eyes a bit too big rather than have them narrow & I also fumbled up on the fingers too. Bleh. :hmm:
Panel 14- Mowgli backing away from a supposedly confrontation from The Khan. I like the way he looks from the back as he’s ready to take things a bit more seriously, now that someone is about to PWN him.
Panel 15- Mowgli leaping over a dumbed down Hyena. This is almost like the 12th panel one the 2nd Sketch work (my favorite panel on that one) except this one is more of a dangerous tone rather than a ‘Get Ready To BRAWL’ type of state. I also redid the leg there as the Hyena blocks it much, so I corrected it to make it more anatomically accurate with the other leg. It took me a while, but I’m proud of the results.
Panel 16- Mowgli leaning on a window sill after an intense moment earlier. I really admire the way the character is feeling during this moment. It makes him feel more human rather than some Two Dimensional driven Feral Child, and the way he’s undressed just defines him in that manner. Why the diapers, I’ll never know. ![]()
Panel 17- Mowgli standing outside in the rain. I like the sense of loneliness here, so I kept this in here.
Panel 18- Another shot of Mowgli kneeling down during an emotional moment. I had a real difficult time trying to add the left leg as his foot & backside takes up too much attention as to where his shin is, because the loincloth is removed. So after trying DOZENS of details, I got fed up & just drew a line to where his leg would be and just left like that. Feh. :X
Panel 19- Mowgli kneeling down with his hand on the grass to assumedly sense some vibrations coming his way, or something. I like the sense of childlike curiosity & discovery in this panel. I think I forgot to color the inside of his mouth as to make look like he’s not gritting his teeth, it’s a minor fault, so heck with it. =p
Panel 20- Mowgli kneeling inside an old place of ruins & looking towards one of his Wolf Pack. I like the expression on his face, which I improvised on the matter, as it looks like he’s not feeling any intimidation that whoever is warning to him at something. I like when he’s tough like that.
Panel 21- The same as above, but with a different posture to the scene. This scene, I feel, seems to be of the opposite feeling of the previous panel. In this, it looks like he’s paying more attention & taking something more seriously to whoever is speaking to him. I also improvised a few anatomy details here, like adding more designs to his feet, added the toes to his right foot, reshaped the backside, and I think I made his eye a little too huge as if whoever is yapping to him has caused his eye to boggle out. Eh. :hmm:
Panel 22- Mowgli sitting in his den, deep in thought. I slightly moved his eyes a bit to intentionally make his posture more emotional in this state.
Panel 23- A shot of Mowgli walking out of his den to probably get some Dinner. :hungry: I kinda like the way he looks sneaky in this panel & the pose shows it. Didn’t have too much of a rough time removing the loincloth & boomerang and draw around his back, but it was easy nonetheless.
Panel 24- Mowgli near the lake wandering around. As before, I like his pose in this one. I even redid some of the anatomy here, like the hands, fingers, his face & added his little belly button. ![]()
His Eyes is a bit too buggy, but ah well, it looks good anyway.
Panel 25- Mowgli sprawled across the ground on his back after falling down a tree. I seem to both like the overall facial expression & state of fall that he’s in the panel. I redid the hips & thigh on him as well as improved the foot on the extended leg & reshaped the big toe. I also added the belly button, too.

Have you ever had pain management?
Question by Fox: Have you ever had pain management?
I have severe arthritis pain and I have trouble walking. I’ve been referred to pain management by my doctor and I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I’m currently taking Percocet 5mg/325mg and Celebrex 200mg. The clinic my doctor is at got in trouble with the DEA for writing too many opiate prescriptions, so they want to stop writing them all together. My doctor wants a pain specialist to take over writing the Percocet. I’ve been to a pain specialist before and when I told him this he said he didn’t believe me. I’m 22 and I have osteoarthritis in my SI joints, plus some other problems. I know its unusual for someone my age to have OA, but I really am in a lot of pain from it. I can’t walk very far and often have trouble showering and doing my hair. I have to wear elastic waist pants because my jeans were pinching my SI joints. Stairs are almost impossible. I use disabled parking to get around my college. I saw a rheumetologist and he said what I have is untreatable. Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I say when I go to the pain specialist?

I went to pain management because I have 3 ruptured disks in my lower back and spurs in my neck. If the medications have been working for you, ask your doctor to refer you to another specialist. But you really don’t want to be on meds for the rest of your life, so you should consider physical therapy. If all else fails, you could look into an epidural injection to reduce inflammation.

Q&A: What might be a natural alternative to the medicine Lyrica as it is used to treat chronic pain?
Question by Rhae R: What might be a natural alternative to the medicine Lyrica as it is used to treat chronic pain?
Exercise would be my answer, too, if I was concerned about taking Lyrica for my own health, but I am, in fact, asking asking on behalf of my grandmother. I realize I should have added this disclaimer earlier.

Let me think this through….
Negative homeostatic feedback mechanisms, mumble mumble, suppression of modulation in the rheticular formation, mumble mumble, inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituatray axis mumble mumble.
Yep, excercise.
(hmph, people never like that answer….)
Edit – Excercise is still the answer for seniors….in fact, a lot of the evidence suggests that for seniors….it might be much MORE so than those who are younger.

Nice Foot Pain Tendons photos

Nasty…

My feet before and after the surgery….
Of course, this doesn’t look as nasty now. I had a 90kmph off-road crash couple of weeks ago and am still recuperating. A seemingly simple laceration on my left foot turned into a terrible streptococcus infection called cellulitis and, to make matters worse, there was pus formation deep beneath the wound. The abscess had to be drawn out by a simple, albeit excruciating, surgical procedure. Just imagine how painful 6 injections would’ve been around the already painful wound. That was topical "anesthesia". Nina Simone’s Sinnerman eased it a little bit though
All this could have been avoided had the casualty doctor given me a Tetanus antitoxin shot on the first day! I had insisted that she give me a shot of tetanus antitoxin but the pain was so overwhelming that I completing forgot to get the TT shot once the wound was dressed, and as it turned out, so did the doc!
I had to be hospitalized for a week, but forced myself out of the sickening hospital environment in 3 days. I was given doses of anti-biotic and other pain killers shot through my veins. The hospital environment made me feel more weaker than I actually was
I still am unable to walk but I hope to be back on the bike ASAP. I am also undergoing physiotherapy for the damaged tendon on my left shoulder, but it’s at least relatively bearable. Thank goodness that none of my bones were broken otherwise it would’ve made matters even worse!

Red Hot Chili Peppers putting best foot forward
By DERRIK J. LANG | Associated Press – Wed, Apr 11, 2012
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Anthony Kiedis had a dream the other night.
The 49-year-old frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers imagined that he was playing at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and the band’s on-again, off-again guitarist John Frusciante was sitting in the front row.
Kiedis is quick to note that this vision won’t become a reality when the 29-year-old group is actually inducted Saturday.
"No," Kiedis said in a hushed tone during a break from rehearsing at SIR Studios last month. "That was just a dream."
"I can’t speak for (Frusciante), but I think it’s kinda like an ex-girlfriend vibe," added 49-year-old bassist Flea.
The current line-up of Flea, Kiedis, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer will be honored along with past bandmates like late founding member Hillel Slovak, the original Chili Peppers guitarist who died of a drug overdose in 1988, and Frusciante, who replaced Slovak and recorded five albums during his fluid tenure with the group.
"We wouldn’t be here without (Slovak) because we wouldn’t have started without him," said Flea. "For him to be honored and recognized is a beautiful thing for us, not that we don’t honor and love him every day, but I feel great for him to go in, as well as John Frusciante, of course, who gave us so much and did some serious (expletive) rocking."
But the guitarist whose melodies powered songs like "Under the Bridge" and "Californication" is not expected to be a part of the festivities in Cleveland, where the Rock Hall is based. A spokesman for Frusciante, who left the Chili Peppers for a second time in 2009, didn’t return messages seeking comment, but Kiedis and Flea do not anticipate he will be there, and a rep for the ceremony says he is not scheduled to attend.
Nonetheless, the group will still be in good company.
The Chili Peppers are set to be inducted alongside Los Angeles rockers Guns N’ Roses, New York hip-hop trio Beastie Boys, Scottish folk icon Donovan and British rock group The Small Faces/The Faces, which featured Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Other honorees will include late singer-songwriter Laura Nyro and blues mastermind Freddie King.
Flea likened the induction class of 2012 to a family reunion: He grew up in LA around Steven Adler and Slash of Guns N’ Roses; on the East Coast, the Beastie Boys followed a similarly daring trajectory at the same time as the Chili Peppers; and Wood has served as a father figure to the group. Wood even joined the Chili Peppers in 2009 for their side project, The Insects.
Kiedis said the band plans to play a few songs at Saturday’s ceremony, and they will be joined by former Chili Peppers drummers Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez for "a three-drummer jam session." He also teased that the Chili Peppers would rock out with several of this year’s other honorees for a funkadelic mash-up.
"It’s funny," said Kiedis. "People have asked me, ‘Did you ever think you would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?’ It’s a funny question because the answer is, ‘Of course not.’ When we started, we thought maybe in periods of 24 hours at a time. The most we would ever think is a week at a time: ‘Oh, we have a gig next Thursday. We should write a song.’"
Mixing layers of funk, punk, heavy metal, rap and traditional pop over a foundation of rock, the Chili Peppers have managed to achieve a consistent level of mainstream success since their formation in 1983, selling more than 83 million albums and winning seven Grammys, all while maintaining their rebellious — though sometimes unhealthy — sensibilities.
The hall of fame honor comes at a time when the group is literally getting back up on its feet. The North American leg of the tour in support of their 10th studio album, "I’m With You," had to be postponed earlier this year when Kiedis needed surgery on his foot, which was reinjured in St. Barts during a game of "toilet tag," a rollicking variation on the childhood classic.
"We had to derail the whole momentum of this beautiful tour we were on," said Kiedis, whose foot has since healed. "We were really having a good time. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because not only did I get to slow down and surgically repair this busted hoof, but we all got to be home for the most beautiful winter on record in Los Angeles."
For the sometimes manic but always thoughtful Flea, who was born Michael Balzary, the unexpected break provided him with time to learn how to play bebop music and train for the LA Marathon. (He finished with a time of 3:41:49, improving on his time of 3:53:00 from last year’s marathon.) More importantly, he said it was an opportunity for introspection.
"I’ve come to a place in my life where I accept the difficult parts and embrace them," said Flea. "Whereas, before I was sort of trying to minimize the hard parts and maximize the fun parts. Now, I just want it all. I want the pain. I want the suffering, as well as the transcendent beauty of playing with my loved ones. I’m into it."
During the downtime, Flea also started writing new music with Klinghoffer, who joined the band in 2009 and co-wrote on "I’m With You." It’s something that Kiedis expects to continue on their tour, which picked back up March 29 in Tampa, Fla., and is scheduled to continue through Nov. 1 in Milwaukee, Wis., with stops in the United States, Canada and Europe.
"In the past, we traditionally write, record, tour, take a little break, write, record, tour, you know, that whole thing," said Kiedis, who detailed the band’s sorted history and his own struggles with addiction in his autobiography "Scar Tissue" in 2004. "This time, for whatever reason, it feels like new music is waiting in the wings to happen."
My Foot

Three days before STP & week long coast bike trip I rolled my foot while stepping onto the street from the curb. Cue extreme pain and sudden swelling on the top of my foot. Not to mention an extreme case of the blues!
A trip to the doctor reveals no bone damage. When I told the doctor I was doing STP this weekend, he told me I should go ahead and try it.
While it looks nastier every day (bruising spreading all over my foot) it feels better every day. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to ride STP just fine. Hopefully so because I’m going "rogue" sans-ticket.
